Bloomberg & El Financiero Partner to Launch Multimedia Platform

MEXICO CITY: Bloomberg and Mexican publication El Financiero have teamed up to launch a multiplatform, Spanish-language, business-news service with content appearing on TV, digital platforms and print.

The partnership includes the creation of El Financiero-Bloomberg, a Spanish-language, business-news television channel that will be broadcast in Mexico and Central America. The channel, billed as the only one of its kind in the region, is slated to begin with four hours of local original programming that will feature leading Mexican journalists such as Enrique Quintana, Carlos Mota, Alejandro Cacho and Leonardo Kourchenko. El Financiero-Bloomberg will be carried nationally through pay-TV systems. It will also offer Bloomberg TV’s English content.

As part of the deal, the print edition of El Financiero will undergo a complete redesign, expanding its news coverage to include in-depth analysis of business topics and carrying content from Bloomberg News. The alliance also includes the launch of new IOS and Android apps that will allow users to receive breaking news and relevant information.

“The region is growing in a key economic, political and social context, and players need accurate, analytical and breaking information that enables them to make informed decisions,” said Manuel Arroyo, the president of El Financiero and Grupo Lauman, which owns the publication. “This alliance gives us the opportunity to grow our information portfolio and offer a global vision with a local context to our readers and spectators.”

Andrew Lack, the chairman for Bloomberg’s Media Group, added: “Mexico and Central America are important territories, and this partnership will help Mexican companies further connect with the global market. Together, we will offer business and financial professionals market-moving insights on global and regional developments and stories that really matter. We are delighted to partner with El Financiero on this new venture.”
