The number of pay-TV subscribers across Western Europe will fall by 2.6 percent between 2019 and 2025 to reach 99.86 million, according to Digital TV Research.

Pay-TV revenues, meanwhile, will fall by 12.5 percent in the same period, as homes pay less for TV as they move to bundles.

Of the 18 markets covered in the report, all but four will lose pay-TV subs, with Germany set to shed the most (871,000), followed by the U.K. (785,000).

“IPTV is gaining subscribers at the expense of the other pay-TV platforms,” said Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research. “It overtook satellite TV in 2015 and will do the same to cable by 2023.”
