BBC Worldwide Taps Pottermore Exec as Brand Director

BBC Worldwide has appointed Pottermore’s Henriette Stuart-Reckling as brand director as part of the company’s ongoing strategy to develop its multiplatform global brand portfolio.

In her new role, Stuart-Reckling will be tasked with steering the strategic growth and financial development of BBC Worldwide’s global brands, including Doctor Who, Top Gear and BBC Earth, in conjunction with the franchise and regional teams. She will also work on cross-divisional projects for the BBC Group, which includes BBC Public Service and the recently commercialized BBC Studios. Stuart-Reckling joins BBC Worldwide in September and will report directly to Jaclyn Lee-Joe, BBC Worldwide’s chief marketing officer.

Stuart-Reckling joins BBC Worldwide from J.K. Rowling’s digital entertainment and e-commerce company, Pottermore, where she was responsible for the marketing and content strategies for the organization’s digital channels as the global digital director. Prior to Pottermore, Stuart-Reckling spent 14 years at The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. in various roles.

Lee-Joe commented: “Henriette’s experience in managing globally renowned IP and leading the transformation of brands is exactly what we need to take our already enviable portfolio to the next level in terms of audiences, partners and commercial opportunities.”

Stuart-Reckling added: “I’m blessed to have worked with the amazing intellectual property that J.K. Rowling created—Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the entire Wizarding World franchise. Pottermore succeeded in connecting with audiences around the world, and delighting them with innovative cross-platform experiences. I’m now excited to apply the experience I’ve gained with several blue-chip entertainment companies and brands to my new role at BBC Worldwide. The BBC has a well-deserved reputation for world-class content and I’m eager to champion its portfolio of global brands and to drive its footprint internationally.”
