VICE Partners with LYD for Korean Expansion

VICE has tapped Joon Lee’s LYD to serve as its representative in Korea as it looks to bring its content to TV and digital platforms across the country.

LYD will be working on a VICE slate derived from the digital channels Munchies, i-D, Motherboard and Noisey and the global channel brand VICELAND. IYUNO, which announced its investment in LYD at the beginning of this week, will localize VICE content for the Korean audience.

Nilesh Zaveri, COO of VICE Asia Pacific, said, “As VICE expands its presence in Korea, this collaboration with the LYD team and founder Joon Lee is an important one. With their extensive local knowledge and developed networks, together we will bring our content to all audiences across Korea, looking to partner with multiple distributors and platform partners.”

Lee, founder and CEO of LYD, added, “We are extremely excited to add VICE’s high-quality and genre-defining programming to our continually diversifying portfolio of content from global media companies for the Korean market. We actively seek the best content from all over the world with 360 capabilities to fully utilize our deep distribution network and expertise within Korea. With VICE’s content, we know we can find success in bringing market recognition to the power and value that the brand has already been successfully delivering around the world.”

VICE has a creative agency, VIRTUE, in Korea and is launching a local VICE.com, with editorial, staffing and commercial announcements to follow in the coming months.
