SINGAPORE: Mediacorp has scored a last-minute deal with Dentsu for Olympic Games live broadcast rights in Singapore.

Back in July, Mediacorp had set plans to air programs featuring daily highlights, delayed telecast of selected events and coverage of the Opening and Closing ceremonies. Under the new pact, Mediacorp will now broadcast the Rio 2016 Olympic Games live on okto, its designated TV channel for sports content, as well as four Toggle OTT channels.

Chang Long Jong, deputy CEO of Mediacorp, said, “As a commercial company with a social purpose, we needed to balance the cost of acquiring live broadcast rights and the expectations of our audiences. I am delighted that we have made a breakthrough in our negotiations with Dentsu to once again present the Olympic Games live to Singapore viewers. The Olympic Games are close to the hearts of many, and audiences here can look forward to enjoying all the best moments, live, over the next two and a half weeks.”
