Singapore’s Mediacorp is aligning with Taiwanese production house Studio76 on Rising Stories, a new initiative to discover Chinese-language scriptwriters from across Asia.

Screenplays for features and drama series can be submitted between February 1 and April 15 next year, with five winners to be announced in July. The winning scripts will have the opportunity to be brought to life by Mediacorp, Studio76, or content partners WeTV and X Media.

The panel of judges for the scripting competition includes award-winning actress Janel Tsai, directors Chieh Shueh-Bin and Lester Shih and screenwriters Maya Huang and Wang Li-Wen, as well as Tang Yeow, assistant VP of Chinese drama productions at Mediacorp.

“We are excited to partner with Studio 76 on Rising Stories to tap into the region’s diversity of talent and invite scriptwriters with fresh, innovative concepts to join us in producing original stories,” said Doreen Neo, chief content officer at Mediacorp. “Through this, we aim to develop the regional creative ecosystem to meet the increasing demand for engaging entertainment. So we hope talented storytellers will participate enthusiastically!”
