Streaming time across the globe was up 13 percent in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2020, according to new data from Conviva.

Streaming viewing time globally rose by 36 percent in the first quarter of this year, Conviva says in its latest State of Streaming report, with significant gains in South America, Africa and Europe.

While time spent streaming content continues to rise across the globe, year-on-year growth slowed in May and June following the peaks recorded in April at the height of the COVID-19 shutdown, according to Conviva.

Streaming viewing was up 58 percent worldwide in Q4 2019 as compared with the year-ago period, according to Conviva, which says 2020 is “the year of streaming media.”
