More Australians Embracing TV Everywhere

SYDNEY: Australians last week watched a record 175 million minutes of broadcast-TV content on mobiles, laptops, tablets and other connected devices, with home-grown dramas proving a particularly popular genre, according to official OzTAM Video Player Measurement (VPM) figures.

Since the introduction of the new video-player measurement in February, more than 3.5 billion minutes of broadcast-quality TV have been watched across a range of different devices. Australian-made dramas such as Offspring, Love Child, Wentworth and Home & Away topped the list of most-watched shows on the networks.

“Australian viewers want to enjoy their favorite TV shows anytime, anywhere and on their screen of choice,” said Kim Portrate, CEO of Think TV. “The latest VPM figures demonstrate that in addition to the 85 hours and 12 minutes we spend watching broadcast TV on a TV every month, there is an increasing demand for broadcast-quality TV across a range of different screens.”

She added: “Broadcasters are meeting consumers’ demand for TV Everywhere head-on with quality, curated content in environments that are safe for both viewers and advertisers.”
