The Mediapro Studio has signed a partnership agreement with the Los Angeles-based Orange Entertainment to strengthen its cinema division and boost its international content portfolio.

Per the deal, Orange Entertainment will review and select film projects on The Mediapro Studio’s behalf to carry through to the financing and production stage. Orange Entertainment will further provide the company with access to prestigious projects that can be incorporated into its portfolio of international productions.

This year, The Mediapro Studio produced a new Woody Allen movie that was shot on location in San Sebastian and is scheduled for release in 2020. Other new projects in the pipeline include Competencia Oficial, a film directed by the Argentinian filmmakers Mariano Cohn and Gaston Duprat and starring Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz and Oscar Martínez; and a new feature with Fernando León de Aranoa. In addition, the company has released the documentaries Me llamo Violeta and Cocinar Belleza.

Javier Méndez, director of global content for The Mediapro Studio, said: “Orange Entertainment is the best partner we could have to undertake our goal of increasing The Mediapro Studio’s foray into film production internationally, with independent quality projects that guarantee us global distribution and reassert our place as a key player in international cinema production.”

Mirjam Wertheim, CEO of Orange Entertainment, added: “Identifying quality film projects has always been the essence of our company. These types of agreements are a natural next step for us to get access to interesting content at an earlier stage. This can help all our clients at once.”
