From a psychological drama to an updated family classic, Kew Media Distribution has a broad range of scripted offerings ready for MIPCOM buyers.

Headlining Kew Media Distribution’s slate of fiction programming is the supernatural single drama The Small Hand: A Ghost Story from Susan Hill, the author of The Woman in Black. The series centers on antique book dealer Adam Snow (Douglas Henshall; Shetland, Outlander) who leads an empty life, infatuated with Alice (Louise Lombard; CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), the wife of a wealthy client (Adrian Rawlins; Chernobyl) and barely present for his older brother, Hugo (Cal MacAnich; The Victim), who is suffering a mental breakdown.

When Adam stumbles upon a dilapidated mansion near his client, he feels the presence of the ghost of a small child. He struggles to repair his fractured relationship with Hugo and excise the spirit from his life, but the ghost will not be ignored, ultimately revealing a haunting secret from his childhood.

Cold Call is a new four-part psychological thriller starring Sally Lindsay (Scott & Bailey, Coronation Street). The company also has two one-hour adaptations of the popular classic Worzel Gummidge. “Now reimagined for a modern audience, with CGI technology bringing the characters back to the screens, Worzel Gummidge is a comedic, magical fantasy for all ages,” says Jonathan Ford, executive VP of sales.

The third season of Frankie Drake Mysteries follows 1920s Toronto’s only female private detectives, Frankie Drake (Lauren Lee Smith; The Shape of Water) and her partner Trudy Clarke (Chantel Riley; Wynonna Earp) as they fight crime with the help of keen police morality officer Mary Shaw (Rebecca Liddiard; Alias Grace) and spirited morgue attendant Flo Chakowitz (Sharron Matthews; Mean Girls).

Coming soon is the sixth season of the multi-award-winning drama series Line of Duty, from the creators of the global hit Bodyguard, Jed Mercurio and World Productions. Set in the fictional police anti-corruption unit AC-12, Line of Duty is a cat-and-mouse thriller that takes a probing look into modern policing and corruption.

Following the global success of Agatha and the Truth of Murder, Kew Media Distribution is bringing to MIPCOM two new Agatha films from the writer Tom Dalton (The Pharmacist), commissioned by Channel 5 and produced by Endemol Shine’s label DSP. Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar (working title), directed by Sam Yates, sees author Agatha Christie travel to the deserts of Iraq in the late 1920s for an archaeological dig where she unravels a series of mysterious murders. Agatha and the Death of X (w/t) is set in the Blitz in 1940s London, as the author decides she must kill off her most famous creation, and in doing so, becomes a target herself.

Clink is the first drama from Kew Media’s partnership deal with the U.K.’s Channel 5, from multi-award-winning production company LA Productions, for Channel 5’s 5Star.

In the way of factual, The Movies explores American cinema through the decades and the cultural, societal and political shifts that framed its evolution.

“Our highlights for MIPCOM are so diverse this year that we really are able to offer something for everyone,” Ford says. “We’re hugely excited to introduce global buyers to content of such high caliber this MIPCOM.”
