House of Cards Resuming Production in Early 2018 Without Spacey

Netflix has confirmed that it is moving forward with a sixth season of House of Cards, which will resume production early next year without Kevin Spacey.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, revealed the news at UBS’s Global Media and Communications Conference in New York today. He announced there will be eight episodes in the next season and that they will be produced in 2018. Robin Wright will take the spotlight in the new chapter, which is set to be the show’s last.

“We are really excited about being able to bring some closure for the fans,” Sarandos said.

House of Cards is produced by Media Rights Capital. Production on the political drama had been suspended in the wake of sexual harassment allegations against Spacey.
