STOCKHOLM: Eccho Rights and CJ E&M have agreed to a distribution deal regarding the scripts for three hit Korean series.

Eccho Rights now holds the format rights for CJ E&M’s Tears of Heaven and A Bird That Doesn’t Sing, two long-running series that feature strong female lead characters. Also part of the pact, Memory is a 16-part story that sees a man coming to terms with his sudden diagnosis of Alzheimer’s.

Eccho Rights previously sold the CJ formats Ice Adonis and Who Are You into a number of territories worldwide over the past two years. The new deal will see Eccho Rights selling the additional scripts across Europe and the Middle East.

“CJ E&M is thrilled to work with Eccho Rights once again with three scripted formats,” said Jangho Seo, the head of international sales and acquisitions at CJ E&M. “We believe Eccho Rights can maximize the potential of these in the territories covered the way they did for Ice Adonis.”

“The strength of Korean drama is something we have seen for a while now, and we are so excited to have more scripts to share,” commented Nicola Söderlund, managing partner at Eccho Rights. “We look forward to seeing new versions of these shows very soon.”
