NEW YORK/TORONTO: CBC in Canada and Comedy Central in the U.S. have commissioned the new series Crawford, created by Mike Clattenburg (Trailer Park Boys, Black Jesus).

Crawford, from Rabbit Square Productions, will be executive produced by Laura Michalchyshyn (Trailer Park Boys, Chicagoland, The American West). The series was co-created by recording artist Mike O’Neill (Moving Day, Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It). The 13×30-minute series centers on a 28-year-old man who experiences a spate of bad luck and moves back in with his parents. He turns his natural ability to relate to raccoons into a successful business while handling life with his eccentric family.

Production on the series is slated to begin in Toronto in 2017. Content Media is handling international distribution for the series. Janice Dawe and Kathy Avrich-Johnson are also on board to produce for Bizable Media.

“This fresh and unique comedy is a perfect fit for CBC’s premium, character-driven comedy slate,” said Sally Catto, the general manager of programming at CBC Television. “We are excited to partner with the Rabbit Square team and Comedy Central to bring Mike Clattenburg’s raccoon whisperer to television audiences.”

“We are thrilled to bring the world of Crawford to life with CBC and Comedy Central,” said Clattenburg, O’Neill and Michalchyshyn. “Have you experienced an unexpected arrival of raccoons, your mom’s lover, or the police knocking in the middle of the night? The residents of Crawford Street have.”
