Bedrock to Power New M6 AVOD Platform

M6 Group will roll out M6+, its new AVOD platform powered by Bedrock, this summer as it looks to triple its streaming revenues by 2028.

M6+ will replace 6play and is set to go live ahead of EURO 2024, which M6 has the French rights to. Powered by Bedrock, the new AVOD platform will deliver interactive live experiences during sports events and reality TV shows to boost viewer engagement, podcasts, generative AI-powered search functionality, a vertical video player for social media content and broad distribution across in-car entertainment systems and connected TVs. Content will be accessible for free for at least 30 days, with the platform promising 30,000 hours available a year, including 10,000 exclusive hours. Deals are in place with Disney, Paramount and Sony for 11,000 hours of series and 300-plus films. The platform will also feature more than 20 FAST channels.

“Aware of the challenges ahead and the giants around us, M6+ embodies our ambition to become the obvious choice for French people looking for online entertainment,” said Nicolas de Tavernost, M6’s chairman of the board. “We have invested in technology, exclusive content and a quality user experience. Our ambition is big, but it’s rooted in our history and fueled by our passion for television.”

“Our ambition with M6+ is to offer a streaming platform made for the modern television viewer,” said Henri de Fontaines, M6 member of the executive board in charge of strategy, streaming and distribution. “We wanted a more immersive platform, more engaging and obviously very accessible. Thanks to Bedrock’s scale and know-how across Europe, we will deploy our brand-new streaming service in just a few months, ready for EURO 2024.”

“M6 is amplifying its streaming leadership in France with an AVOD model available for free across all devices,” said Bedrock CEO Jonas Engwall. “Bedrock has strong experience with hyper-distribution supporting 60-plus devices, turbocharged advertising monetization and massive scale welcoming millions of users every day on our platform. We are super proud to support M6’s digital acceleration strategy.”
