NEW YORK: Comedy Central has greenlit nine series for its Discover channel on Snapchat across a range of formats, including animation, sketch, stand-up, reality television and late night.

Discover launched on Snapchat in January in the U.S. and quickly became the second most-popular channel on the platform among users 13 to 24. In February, Comedy Central launched its international Snapchat Discover channel.

“It’s been great fun experimenting with established and emerging talent on our Snapchat Discover channel,” said Kent Alterman, the president of original programming at Comedy Central in the U.S. “It allows us to play with form and format, and the reception from our fans and the creative community has been tremendously gratifying.”

“We launched our Snapchat Discover channel internationally just two months ago and are thrilled with the response from fans,” added Jill Offman, senior VP and head of Comedy Central International. “With a mission to become the home of funny across every platform internationally, this fresh new content lets us give our audiences more of what they love and expect from Comedy Central around the world.”

The nine new series will be available globally. 7 Mins in Purgatory has five comedians in each episode performing their acts in an empty space without an audience. In Animal-Lolz, comedian Joe Zimmerman shares true animal facts, with short animations by Charlie Hankin. Bert’s Dreams features animated recreations of Bert Kreischer’s dreams. Comedian Caleb Synan takes part in reality TV cooking shows in Deadliest Chef. Guber Pool is a sketch comedy from the Dollar Pizza team about ride sharing apps. Messages From the Future stars comedian Julio Torres. The Lounge is an animated series about four best friends who work together at a middle school in Missouri. You’re Wrong features Mike Lawrence, “an angry nerd with strong opinions.” Emily Candini is behind a series that exposes what goes on during the commercial breaks in between late-night interview segments.
