LOS GATOS: Netflix has slated 2017 for the premiere of a new original series based on the 2001 indie film Wet Hot American Summer.

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later will comprise eight half-hour episodes. In the film, the counselors promised to reunite in ten years, and the series will show fans what happened to the campers and counselors during that reunion. It will be written by Michael Showalter and David Wain, with Wain also set to direct. Showalter, Wain, Peter Principato, Jonathan Stern and Howard Bernstein will executive produce.

Last July, Netflix released a prequel series titled Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. The series brought to life what happened to the counselors and campers when they first arrived at camp. The 1980s-set film stars big names such as Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd and David Hyde Pierce.
