Twitter to Stream Seventh Annual Streamy Awards

Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter have revealed that submissions and fan nominations are now open for the seventh annual Streamy Awards, which will stream live on Twitter in September.

The Streamy Awards, honoring the best in online video and the creators behind the content across 47 categories, will stream live on Twitter from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, September 26. This year, the branded and social good categories have been expanded, placing greater emphasis on original series with the addition of comedy and drama series awards, and the elimination of gender distinction in the performance categories. Additionally, select categories have been broadened to encompass submissions from creators who distribute video primarily via social-media platforms.

“With new and expanded categories in social good, branded entertainment and original series, this year’s Streamy Awards reflect the growth and evolution of online and social video,” said Streamy Awards creator Drew Baldwin. “Our new awards reflect the spirit of the industry, abandoning gender distinctions to focus on the unparalleled talent and passion that drives the creator community and their audiences.”

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Twitter for the 2017 Streamy Awards,” added Ariel Elazar, the executive VP of brand, marketing and digital strategy for Dick Clark Productions. “Creators continue to use Twitter to not only distribute their content, but also as a primary way to engage with their audiences, so it is a natural fit to be the home of this year’s Streamy Awards.”

Submissions and fan nominations are now open via the Streamys website, through to June 9. Nominations will be announced this summer. Winners are determined by the Streamys Blue Ribbon Panel, comprised of a select group of leaders shaping the future of entertainment, including creators, executives and other experts in the online video industry.
