British Sitcom Vicious to Return to PBS

ARLINGTON: Next year, PBS in the U.S. is slated to begin airing the second season of Vicious, a British comedy series from the Shine International catalogue.

Starring Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellen, Vicious follows an old gay couple who have been together for nearly five decades. The six-part second season will debut on PBS in summer 2015 following its broadcast on ITV in the U.K. The show is created and exec produced by showrunner Gary Janetti (Will & Grace). It is produced by Brown Eyed Boy in association with Kudos and Nickelby.

"PBS and our member stations are excited to bring Vicious back to our summer lineup and watch the hilarious adventures of Freddie and Stuart unfold for a second season," said Beth Hoppe, the chief programming executive and general manager of general audience programming at PBS. "Season one received such a wonderful response from our viewers, and we are delighted to be working with our Shine International partners to give season two a home on PBS."

"It was such a joy to see U.S. viewers welcome season one of Vicious into their homes last summer, and we're looking forward to continuing the fun next year," added Janetti. "Fans of the show can expect another round of outrageous antics, along with a few surprises, that are sure to make the second season as memorable as the first."
