ITV Commissions New Drama Mini, Renews Vicious & Others

LONDON: ITV has commissioned the three-part drama Prey, starring John Simm, alongside announcing renewals for the Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi comedy Vicious as well as The Job Lot and Plebs.

In Prey, Simm will play Detective Constable Marcus Farrow, a cop and husband with two kids. His world falls apart when he is found at the scene of a brutal crime. He is arrest and charged, but gets the opportunity to escape. A high-stakes game of cat and mouse ensues across the city of Manchester. All of the three episodes have been written and created by television newcomer Chris Lunt and will see Simm’s debut as a lead actor in an ITV drama.

ITV also gave a second season to Vicious, which sees the veteran actors McKellen and Jacobi playing a gay couple who have been together for the past 50 years. It is a Brown Eyed Boy production in association with Kudos. Also getting a sophomore season is The Job Lot, which stars Sarah Handland and Russell Tovey. The Job Lot is a Big Talk Production. There’s also a second series coming for Plebs, a RISE films production.
