LONDON: Shine International has sold the prime-time sitcom Vicious, starring Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi, to the U.S. public broadcaster PBS.

PBS picked up the 6×30-minute series for broadcast in 2014. It features McKellen and Jacobi playing a couple who have lived together in a small London flat for newly 50 years. The pair constantly bicker but truly love each other underneath it all.

Executive producer Gary Janetti said: "I couldn't be more thrilled for Vicious to be airing on PBS."

"Vicious brings together two of the finest living British actors—Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellan—in a funny and endearing series," said Beth Hoppe, the chief programming executive and general manager of general audience programming at PBS.
