Globo Finds Homes for Telenovelas in LatAm, Africa

SÃO PAULO: Globo has sold the telenovelas Sparkling Girls and Gabriela to multiple broadcasters in Latin America and Africa.

The exhibition rights for Sparkling Girls have been picked up by NEXtv channel in Panama and STV in Mozambique. The show revolves around three housekeepers who become a successful musical trio. The cast is led by Taís Araújo (Shades of Sin), Leandra Leal (Passione) and Isabelle Drummond (The Enchanted Tale). Globo will be offering up the title at the L.A. Screenings.

The television rights for Gabriela were licensed to ATV in Peru, Cerro Corá in Paraguay, Canal 2 in Nicaragua and TeleAntillas in the Dominican Republic. The series is a remake a 1970s telenovela about a sensual and spontaneous young immigrant. The new version will star Juliana Paes (India: A Love Story). It will be distributed by Globo in Latin America, Africa and Europe, and by Warner Bros. International Television Production in Asia, North America, Australia and the U.K.
