The French broadcasting giant Canal+ Group has taken a 6.5 percent stake in MultiChoice, Africa’s largest pay-TV operator.

MultiChoice’s entertainment platforms—DStv, GOtv, Showmax and DStv Now—reach approximately 14 million people across 50 countries.

“This acquisition, a long-term financial investment, demonstrates the confidence of the Canal+ group and its shareholder Vivendi in the prospects of MultiChoice and the African continent to which they are attached,” the company said.
