MIAMI: Univision is working with Curiosity Media, led by Pedro Torres, on a new series based on the life of the popular Mexican musician Luis Miguel.

Miguel rose to fame at the age of 12 and has won five Grammy Awards over the course of his career, which began in Mexico in 1981. Torres, who has a long list of credits in Mexico, including the local version of Big Brother, has been working with Miguel for years on his music videos and will exec produce the new series.

“This is going to be an unforgettable series about one of the biggest artists of our time,” said Lourdes Diaz, the president of entertainment at Univision Communications. “This series is part of our efforts to bring Univision’s young and loyal fan base a robust lineup of high-quality programs, whether they be unscripted realities, gritty crime dramas or biopics, such as this series on the legendary Luis Miguel.”
