Representatives from the U.K., Brazil and Chile are set to attend the sixth edition of MIP Cancun, which is dedicated to the LatAm and U.S. Hispanic content markets.

The event will take place on November 20 through 22, with pre-opening on November 19, at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The trade associations Pact from the U.K., Brazilian Content from Brazil and CinemaChile from Chile are set to bring delegations of member production companies to participate in the third Co-Production Forum, a three-day matchmaking program that runs through MIP Cancun.

Pact, the body representing U.K. independent television, film and digital media companies, is targeting MIP Cancun as a key vector to tap into the rapidly-growing LatAm market. Pact is offering a limited number of grants to help eligible companies with the costs of attending.

Brazilian Content is the Brazilian Audiovisual Independent Export Project (BRAVI), in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (Apex-Brasil). Created in 2004, it aims to promote independent audiovisual content in the international market and to enable partnerships between Brazilian and foreign companies through co-productions, and sales to TV channels, internet, mobile and digital media. Eight major Brazilian companies have already registered for MIP Cancun.

CinemaChile is the international promotion agency for the entire Chilean audiovisual production sector, both film and television, under the sub-brand CinemaChileTV. This year, CinemaChile celebrates its ten year anniversary and will attend MIP Cancun for the first time to support production companies at the Mexican event. So far, five major companies have confirmed their attendance and are they expected to be joined by at least five more. In addition, CinemaChile will launch its new TV Catalog 2019-2020, which contains more than 60 new productions, including fiction, non-fiction and animation series for children.

MIP Cancun has also partnered with all3media international for the Entertainment Formats Pitch, a new Formats Pitch competition specifically targeting Latin American and US Hispanic creators and producers of new and original, non-scripted entertainment formats.

“We are delighted by the continued success of MIP Cancun and what is shaping up to be a great sixth edition, with the addition this year of the brand-new Entertainment Formats Pitch,” said Bénédicte Touchard de Morant, director of MIP Cancun. “This competition should reveal the vibrancy of creativity specifically tailored for what is one of the fastest-growing regional markets.”
