LONDON/CANNES: Zig Zag Productions has signed on to produce the factual-entertainment series British Treasure, American Gold (working title) for Quest in the U.K. and RMC Découverte in France.

The six-part, hour-long series sees Jesse McClure, American star of Storage Hunters US and self-proclaimed “Resale King,” head across the pond to explore British treasures. Jesse will put $100,000 of his family’s money on the line as he hits the streets in search of the biggest bargains Britain has to offer. Then he’ll send the items back to the U.S. in an attempt to turn a profit in the family’s L.A. antiques store.

“We are incredibly excited to have secured Jesse McClure, the star of international smash hit Storage Hunters to front our new transatlantic transactional format British Treasure, American Gold (w/t) where Jesse will find unique artifacts in Europe to ship back to sell at his family’s antiques mall in the U.S. In partnership with Quest and RMC Découverte the series will be filmed in the U.K., France and the U.S.” said Danny Fenton, CEO of Zig Zag Productions.

Simon Downing, the senior VP and head of channel at Quest at Discovery Communications, said: “British Treasure, American Gold is a fantastic addition to Quest, with auction shows working very well in the schedule. ‘The Resale King’ has a huge fan base in the U.K. and this new show will see Jesse McClure doing what he does best: searching for artifacts, from the military to the macabre that he can turn for a tidy profit.”

Adam Jacobs serves as executive producer for Quest, while Danny Fenton and Matt Graff are executive producers for Zig Zag Productions, which retains the rights for the U.S.
