LONDON: Curated VOD service MUBI has teamed up with New Wave Films for the theatrical, home entertainment and VOD release of this year's Cannes Directors' Fortnight film Arabian Nights, directed by Miguel Gomes.

Arabian Nights paints a picture of modern-day Portugal, presenting fictionalized versions of true stories from all over the debt-ridden country. In addition to its home entertainment and VOD release, the three-part production will be shown in cinemas across the U.K. and Ireland. The critically acclaimed film is slated to launch on the MUBI movie platform following its theatrical premiere.

Efe Cakarel, the founder and CEO of MUBI, said: "This is the perfect film to make our foray into releasing a film across all platforms. Not only are we able to partner with such an inspiring company such as New Wave Films but also, we are able to bring one of this year’s most incredibly unique films to cinemas and then our audiences. It is just phenomenal."

Robert Beeson, co-owner of New Wave Films, added: "We're immensely pleased to be cooperating with MUBI, which is such an innovative and exciting platform, and so being able to bring this amazing film to British and Irish audiences."
