LONDON: A+E Networks UK has reached a deal with subscription-free satellite TV platform Freesat for its new free-to-air service BLAZE.

Yesterday, the channel rolled out to 1.9 million Freesat homes, adding to its distribution via Freeview, Sky and as a TV Everywhere service online. The channel is now available to almost 21 million viewers on free-to-air platforms, plus Sky’s 12-million-plus subs.

“We are very excited to bring BLAZE to a further 1.9 million homes via Freesat,” said Heather Jones, U.K. general manager at A+E Networks. “We are delighted with how audiences are embracing the array of shows on BLAZE, with much of our content free-to-air exclusives.”

Alistair Thom, managing director of Freesat, added, “We are thrilled to add BLAZE to our channel lineup. Freesat viewers already enjoy more than 200 TV and radio channels across a range of genres. BLAZE will boost our entertainment offering for viewers who want to enjoy brilliant TV without paying a monthly subscription.”
