The London-based production company Buccaneer Media has appointed former A+E Networks executive Richard Tulk-Hart to the position of joint CEO.

Formerly managing director of international distribution, formats and co-productions at A+E Networks, Tulk-Hart will spearhead the commercialization of Buccaneer’s projects and drive business growth. Tulk-Hart will serve as joint CEO alongside Tony Wood, the company’s founder, who will focus on creative development and production.

Prior to A+E Networks, Tulk-Hart has held senior industry leadership roles with Miramax, where he was senior VP and head of international, and FremantleMedia, where he was VP of sales for EMEA. He also held the role of VP of sales and distribution at IMG Media.

Buccaneer is currently in the advanced stages of development on film and TV projects with U.K., U.S. and European networks. These include Crime by Irvine Welsh, The Reykjavik Confessions with Baltasar Kormakur, Moths by Ingeborg Topsøe and Julius by Lars Lundström. The company is also currently in post-production of the third season of Marcella, the acclaimed Hans Rosenfeldt crime drama starring Anna Friel, for ITV and Netflix.

Tulk-Hart said: “I am so excited to join Tony at Buccaneer. The slate is broad and brought together by incredible talent. In such a competitive environment Tony’s creative talent gives us the edge from which I can launch the business. I wish my incredible A+E colleagues every success and look forward to working with them in the future.”

Wood added: “Richard joining Buccaneer is a game changer for us—his record speaks for itself. Our development slate together with Richard’s heavyweight commercial expertise feels like the final piece of the puzzle for our business and I’m thrilled to be working alongside him.”
