Audiovisual from Spain Reports Strong Demand for Spanish Formats

CANNES: Audiovisual from Spain is gearing up for MIPTV, where it believes that Spanish formats will be in high demand.

According to a new report from The Wit, Spanish fiction is one of the most sought after types of programming for adapting locally around the world. There have already been a number of adaptations produced globally that are based on Spanish scripted formats. This includes The Boat, distributed by Imagina International Sales, which debuted its Russia adaptation last January. The Boomerang TV series The Mysteries of Laura has four adaptations, including a pilot in the U.S. The Filmax drama Red Bracelets has an Italian version that has been an audience leader on RAI. The Boomerang TV serial The Secret of Old Bridge has been sold to a host of countries as well. Mediaset Spain has made a number of deals in Latin America for its series Dreamland, Brother and The King.

Entertainment formats from Spain are also in demand. Phileas Productions has formats on air in three countries and options deals in a further nine. A number of companies under the Audiovisual from Spain banner will be showcasing new formats at MIPTV as well. This includes Grupo Secuoya with the talent show The Shower. Onza Content Distribution is showcasing Magic Mania. Rays of Sunshine TV is promoting What's Up with English. Phileas is launching Ex Life on Sale and Veralia has the format FollowBack.
