Sky Deutschland Renews Access to SPT Titles

UNTERFÖHRING: Sky Deutschland has extended its volume deal with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), scoring the exclusive pay-TV and SVOD rights to current and upcoming film releases such as Men in Black 3, The Amazing Spiderman 3D and Total Recall.

The multi-year continuation covers all current Sony Pictures films on all distribution channels including satellite, cable, IPTV, the Internet and on the go. For the first time, the German pay platform will also license first-run and catalogue television series from the SPT library.

"This arrangement strengthens our position as number one in films," said Gary Davey, the executive VP of programming at Sky Deutschland. "The cooperative agreement ensures that Sky in Germany and in Austria will not only have the films of another major Hollywood studio, but also guarantees outstanding films for our innovative services Sky Anytime and Sky Go. Sony has always been a great partner for Sky and we are delighted to extend our partnership."
