ZDF Enterprises to Offer Titanic Doc & Mini-Series

MAINZ: ZDF Enterprises is commemorating the centennial of the sinking of the Titanic with a mini-series from Julian Fellowes and Nigel Stafford-Clark and a documentary about the catastrophe, offering both to German-speaking territories and broadcasters in Central and Eastern Europe.

The documentary special Saving the Titanic is the first-ever documentary special to focus on the engineers and shipbuilders below deck who worked to keep the power systems running and helped save the lives of many passengers. It was produced with a budget of more than 1.5 million euros and has already been sold to Viasat in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia and Servus TV in Austria. Negotiations are underway with a U.S. broadcaster.

The mini-series Titanic from Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey, Gosford Park) and BAFTA-winning producer Nigel Stafford-Clark (Bleak House) stars Linus Roache, Geraldine Somerville, Celia Imrie and Toby Jones. The series follows events through the eyes different characters from across the social spectrum, providing insights into the tragic events leading up to the icy deaths of 1,517 passengers. It is produced by Lookout Point and Sienna Films for ITV and is by supported by major broadcasters around the world, including ABC (US), TF 1 (France), Channel Seven (Australia), TV NZ (New Zealand) and SVT (Sweden). ZDF Enterprises holds the distribution rights for German-speaking territories and Central and Eastern Europe. The remaining distribution rights are with ITV Global Entertainment.
