The Philippines’ First Figure-Skating Drama Coming to GMA

On March 13, the Philippines’ GMA Network is slated to debut the country’s first figure-skating drama, Hearts on Ice.

The series centers on figure skater Ponggay, who aspires to fulfill her mother’s broken dreams of becoming a champion. Despite her leg impairment and bullying from her opponents, Ponggay works hard to become a star skater and earn validation from her mother.

Ponggay forms an unlikely friendship with a talented figure skater from abroad, without knowing that their mothers used to be bitter opponents. She also discovers an anonymous online content creator whose music brings out the best of her abilities. She later meets the attractive Enzo, who seems to be her online idol.

The series stars Ashley Ortega as Ponggay and Xian Lim as Enzo. Additional cast members are Amy Austria, Tonton Gutierrez, Rita Avila, Lito Pimentel, Ina Feleo, Cheska Iñigo, Skye Chua and Miss Philippines Earth 2020 Roxie Smith.

Hearts on Ice is directed by Dominic C. Zapata, and its creative team includes head writer John Roque; writers Liberty Trinidad-Villaroman, Marlon Miguel and Brylle Tabora; creative director Aloy Adlawan; content development consultant Ricky Lee; creative consultant Jojo Nones; head writer John Roque; and brainstormer Louize Andrei Al-Sheri.

The show will debut on GMA on March 13 and air weeknights at 8:50 p.m. It will also air on GTV at 11:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and at 11 p.m. on Fridays.
