Escapade Media has signed a deal to represent two scripted series from U.K.-based StoryFirst in the Asia-Pacific region: M.A.D. Mutually Assured Destruction and The Sleeper.

Per the agreement, Escapade will seek Australian, New Zealand and Asian partners for M.A.D. Mutually Assured Destruction, a drama series that centers on a young Australian woman named Martha, who is working at the UN in 1956. It is based on a biography about Povl Bang-Jensen written by Bo Lidegaard.

The Sleeper is an adaptation of the Emily Barr novel of the same name. The series is written by Mark Greig (No OffenceMarcella) and directed by Catherine Moreshead (Pennyworth, The One). StoryFirst’s Dominic Barlow (The Discovery of Witches, Mr Selfridge) is executive producing the series, which is produced by Jo Southwell (Cold Night Rising, Deirdre) of Aston Productions.

Barlow commented: “Working with Escapade Media has been an incredibly collaborative process, using their expertise to further enhance well-developed projects to enable us to reach new and exciting markets.”

Natalie Lawley, Escapade’s managing director, said: “The caliber of the projects that StoryFirst have developed is exceptional. It is a privilege to be working with this company and their team. Escapade believes both of these projects will offer the Asia-Pacific marketplace prime-time, original drama.”

Damien Naughton, Escapade’s Central and Eastern Europe consultant, added: “It was a natural fit to bring together these two outstanding creative and development companies. The opportunity to work with both Escapade and StoryFirst on such high-quality projects and deliver those opportunities across this region is outstanding.”
