Escapade Media has signed a deal with StoryFirst UK to bring its scripted projects to the global market, excluding the U.K., CIS and Africa, which will be handled by Niche Media.

StoryFirst UK’s catalog includes Portobello Road, executive produced by Eric Clapton and inspired by the true-life experiences of Rod Gunner, the 1970s manager of Clapton and the Bee Gees. When the Portobello Road management company is on the verge of collapse, the owner, Penny, must dance between creditors, egos and her own desires to keep the music going.

Also in the catalog is Debriefing the President, based on the novel by CIA analyst John Nixon, about the capture, interrogation and execution of Sadam Hussain. Nixon is the one who found and questioned Hussain in the desert. He was tasked with finding actionable intelligence about insurgents, but when Hussain opens up, Nixon begins to see a much more complex picture that draws the purpose and efficacy of the Iraq invasion into question.

“Escapade is thrilled to be expanding our working relationship with StoryFirst and Niche Media,” said Natalie Lawley, managing director of Escapade. “Our expert team have the experience and expertise to handle these prestigious titles and take them into production. After launching Debriefing the President and Portobello Road at MIPCOM, we are extremely happy with the client conversations to date.”

“StoryFirst has a pipeline of premium projects from A-list talent that are in development,” said StoryFirst’s Peter Gerwe. “We are focused on building our global network to ensure our projects find the right partners. Escapade and Niche Media’s specialist global network provide us with the targeted and detailed approach we require, and we are looking forward to working with them both.”
