Topic Using AI-Based Dubbing for Foreign Crime Series

The streaming service Topic is debuting English-language-dubbed versions of some of its hit foreign crime series using AI-driven dubbing from Deepdub.

A multitude of non-English-language series are being translated and localized for English-speaking audiences without losing the original audio and vocal experience. Currently available are English-language-dubbed versions of The Bridge (Bron/Broen, Sweden and Denmark), Pagan Peak (Der Pass, Germany) and Dead Mountain (Pereval Dyatlova, Russia), with more series to come, including The Killing (Forbrydelsen, Denmark) and Arctic Circle (Ivalo, Finland).

According to Topic, this marks the first time AI-based dubbing has been used for a TV or streaming series. Topic is also the first platform to release dubbed programming using Deepdub’s artificial intelligence-based platform.
