Cineflix Rights Takes Trio of Series to Topic

Cineflix Rights has inked a three-series deal with the North American streamer Topic.

Through the deal, Topic acquired the Icelandic political thriller The Minister, which stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as a populist prime minister whose worsening mental health condition threatens the stability of the government and the lives of those around him.

Topic also picked up seasons one and two of the Russian drama An Ordinary Woman, as well as the Canadian dark comedy Happily Married, which tells the story of two couples in crisis in 1974.

James Durie, head of scripted of Cineflix Rights, said: “Interest in foreign-language dramas has never been higher, and all three series feature taut, multi-layered contemporary stories with brilliant ensemble casts to create top-notch entertainment. We’re thrilled to be signing this deal with Topic to bring these riveting stories to U.S. audiences for the first time.”
