Cineflix Rights Secures Sunny Nights Sales

Cineflix Rights has secured new sales for the eight-part comedic crime drama Sunny Nights in Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Ireland and Israel.

“Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden, stars of two of this year’s biggest streaming hits—The Four Seasons and Nobody Wants This—have joined forces with Trent O’Donnell, the acclaimed showrunner and director behind Colin From Accounts and Hacks, to create Sunny Nights, a sharp, darkly funny new crime drama,” said Tom Misselbrook, senior VP of scripted development at Cineflix Rights. “We’re thrilled to be taking this incredible lineup of talent and such an entertaining, high-quality series to audiences around the world with these latest sales.”

The series has been sold to Bell Media for its English and French services in Canada, ProSieben in Germany, CANAL+ in the Netherlands, TVNZ in New Zealand, TG4 in Ireland and Yes in Israel.

Forte and Carden star as a brother-and-sister duo who open up a spray tan business in Sydney, Australia. As they attempt to turn their company from a startup operating out of the back of a van into a multi-million-dollar empire, they become tangled up in Sydney’s criminal underworld.

Supporting cast members include Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok, Heartbreak High, Foundation), Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door, The Artful Dodger, Ladies in Black), Miritana Hughes (Wakefield, Preacher), Ra Chapman (White Fever, Wentworth) and Megan Wilding (Gold Diggers, Mystery Road: Origin), with a special appearance from Patrick Brammall (Colin From Accounts, No Activity, The Letdown).

Sunny Nights is a Stan original series from Jungle Entertainment and Echo Lake Entertainment in association with Cineflix Rights. Major production investment comes from Stan and Screen Australia. It is also financed with support from Screen NSW.
