Mediapro to Launch Soccer Channel in Canada

Mediapro, the media partner of Canadian Soccer Business and the Canadian Premier League (CPL), is gearing up to unveil OneSoccer, a 24/7 live and on-demand streaming channel for the sport.

OneSoccer will air all home matches of Canada Soccer’s women’s and men’s national teams and all 24 matches of the 2019 Canadian Championship involving all professional soccer teams in Canada. A selection of key matches will be simulcast on a national linear broadcaster.

The channel will also carry live coverage of all 98 Canadian Premier League matches and the final, including the opening game on April 27 between Forge FC and York 9 FC at Hamilton’s Tim Hortons Field. Beginning in 2020, OneSoccer will also broadcast a selection of League1 Ontario women’s and men’s games.

A wide range of supplementary programming will also be available on the channel, including pre- and post-match highlights, daily news, mid-week magazine shows, interviews and features. The channel’s offerings will expand to cable and satellite television platforms in the near future and will also soon be available on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

Oscar López, CEO of Mediapro Canada, said: “We have seen a growing excitement across the country over the past few months as the CPL clubs have built strong inroads into their local communities, and we know that the CPL is going to exceed expectations. We have seen in Spain and our other markets that dedicated channels like OneSoccer are welcomed by viewers in an increasingly digital world, and we’re confident OneSoccer will be the best possible home for all things Canadian soccer.”
