Canada Media Fund Reorganizes Executive Team

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has completed its corporate reorganization process, with a number of current team members assuming new leadership positions, including Sandra Collins, previously chief financial officer and VP of operations, taking on the expanded role of chief operating officer.

In the position, Collins will contribute to the oversight of the entire organization’s operations. Meanwhile, Nathalie Clermont, CMF’s former director of programs management, is taking on the newly created role of VP of programs and business development, with a focus on developing alternative funding partnerships to leverage CMF investments in television and digital media content.

A second newly created role, VP of communications and promotions, was devised to oversee CMF’s marketing and communications, with an added focus to promote the content and talent made in Canada for both national and global audiences. Mathieu Chantelois, a Montréal native, former entertainment reporter and executive at Cineplex Media, is joining the CMF Toronto team in this role.

Rod Butler, who formerly held the position of manager of program policies, will now be the director of programs and policy, with a focus on developing the policies that govern CMF programs. Svitlana Levit, CMF’s former finance manager, is moving up to director of finance and administration. Catherine Mathys remains in the senior management team as director of industry and market trends.

The newly created position of chief strategy officer will be filled and announced at a later date.

“The CMF embarked on a reorganization process at the leadership level to ensure we continue being responsive to current market needs and the strategic objectives set by the Board of Directors,” said Valerie Creighton, president and CEO of CMF. “I’m confident the new structure will allow us to move forward in an effective way as we deliver on our commitments to support, develop and promote Canada’s screen-based industry, as well as our country’s creative talent and content.”

She concluded, “I’d like to congratulate and welcome the new management team. I look forward to seeing what we will accomplish together in the years to come.”
