CMF Invests in European Co-Developments & Co-Pros

The Canada Media Fund (CMF), in partnership with three international funding organizations, is set to invest over C$1.1 million ($833.8 million) in the co-development and co-production of eight projects that applied for funding through CMF international incentives.

Through the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive, CMF and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB) are investing C$390,000 ($296,000) in the co-development of two digital media projects. The two organizations started their partnership in 2017-18 and have since invested just under C$1.2 million ($909.6 million) in nine projects, including this round of funding. The two projects set to receive funding in this round are Assemble & Attack from Game Pills and Thoughtfish, and Colour of the Wind VR from Tortuga Films and Alias Film.

This is the second year CMF partnered with Film Fund Luxembourg to fund co-development and co-production projects between Canadian and Luxembourger producers. The two organizations will invest C$589,000 ($446,000) in the following two digital media projects, one at the development stage and the other in production: The Dollhouse from Zazie Films and Focusart, and Wild Cities from Jam3 and a_BAHN.

CMF and Northern Ireland On Screen have invested C$400,000 ($303,000) in the co-development of eight television projects. Through this round of funding, both organizations will invest an additional C$157,000 ($119,000) in four projects. The projects are #IBelieveHer (Plausible Commn. and We Bun Films), Loss (Uppercut Creative and Controvert), Mimi infinity (Productions Sardine and FlickerPix Animations) and Woods Music (Orange Iceberg and Sonas Productions).
