ITVS GE Places 500-Plus Hours Across China & Thailand

CANNES: A raft of deals have been signed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) with broadcasters and digital platforms in China and Thailand, totaling more than 500 hours of programming.

ITVS GE scored a multiyear drama output deal with Tencent, a provider on Internet services in China. This sees the company providing more than 100 hours a year of drama, including such titles as Dancing on the Edge, Endeavour and Murdoch Mysteries.

The Chinese VOD service Sohu picked up the drama Rectify. Also in China, a multiyear agreement has been reached with Shanghai Media Group that sees the broadcaster acquiring 120 hours of programming annually across a range of genres; the content will then air on International Channel Shanghai.

In Thailand, a deal has been closed with the pay-TV broadcaster Next Step for some 300 hours of factual and nature programming. Titles include Too Cute! and Desert Seas.

Hyeonza Hong, the senior VP of sales for Asia at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said: “ITVS GE’s portfolio offers a wide breadth of programming that fulfills the increased demand for quality content from the growing number of digital and pay-TV providers in China in particular. We look forward to presenting our newest programming to our clients from the region at MIPTV.”
