Foxtel Acquires New U.S. Fall Series

SYDNEY: Foxtel has picked up two of the most buzzed-about new series from the U.S. fall season, signing with Warner Bros./Nine Network to acquire The Flash and with CBS Studios International to license Jane the Virgin.

Both series will launch on Foxtel's FOX8 HD channel in December and be fast-tracked over the summer.

Foxtel also picked up The Messengers from CBSSI to be shown on FOX8. It also licensed from CBSSI Penny Dreadful for its showcase channel.

Foxtel's SoHo channel is set to air the 20th Century Fox drama Rush. Two comedies from 20th Century Fox are headed to FOX8 in early 2015: Fresh Off the Boat and Cristela.

As part of Foxtel's existing output deal with HBO, the dramas The Leftovers and Olive Kitteridge are heading to showcase. From Cinemax comes the Steven Soderbergh-directed drama The Knick, debuting on showcase in December.

From AMC Networks, Foxtel scooped up the rights for the drama The Divide, to air on SoHo next month.
