Eurosport to Remain AsiaPac Home of Major Cycling Races Until 2021

PARIS/SINGAPORE: Eurosport has extended its agreement with Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) involving the exclusive television and digital rights in the Asia Pacific for eight major international cycling races from 2017 to 2021.

In Asia, the deal includes the Grand Tours (Tour de France and La Vuelta a España); three Classics (Paris-Roubaix, Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège); the two French World Tour stage races (Paris-Nice and Critérium du Dauphiné); and the end-of-season race Paris-Tours. The same package, excluding the Tour de France, has been renewed for Australia and the Pacific region.

The agreement spans all markets in the Asia Pacific—expect for China, Japan and New Zealand—totaling 43 territories. The rights are exclusive for the live broadcast of all races in all 43 territories, excluding Australia.

Peter Hutton, the CEO of Eurosport, remarked: "Eurosport has a fantastic, longstanding partnership with ASO and we are excited to continue to deliver the best races including the Tour de France and Paris-Roubaix to the Asia-Pacific region. Eurosport's cycling coverage is unrivaled bringing all three Grand Tours, the greatest Classics and best one-day and stage races to cycling fans internationally.

"These fans have enjoyed Eurosport's finest ever coverage of the Tour this year. For the first time we have had access to ASO's international feed and cameras, allowing us to customize our viewer experience, along with footage from on-board cameras on the riders' bikes for exciting and insightful highlight packages. That, along with the daily on-site show with legend Greg LeMond featuring 3D graphics for the first time, has made the 102nd Tour de France a stellar year for Eurosport."

Yann Le Moenner, ASO's managing director, added: "We are really delighted to extend our long-term partnership with Eurosport in the Asia-Pacific region, and having a partner with whom we are able to pursue our aim to modernize and develop the coverage of our events to bring cycling closer to the impressive growing number of fans in the region. We are also convinced that the Tour de France and our other races such as La Vuelta and Paris-Roubaix will highly benefit from the dynamic of the Discovery Group and its massive promotional platforms in Asia."
