BBC Worldwide India Scores MTV Commissions

MUMBAI: BBC Worldwide Productions in India has received commissions for two new youth-skewing daily dramas to air on the local feed of MTV.

The shows will air on MTV India from Monday to Friday, reaching some 35 million homes, in the 6 p.m. slot. MTV Fanaah—An Impossible Love Story is a supernatural-themed drama about five teens. MTV Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan focuses on the relationships between young adults as they head to college.
 
"More than half of India's population is now below the age of 25 and more than 65 percent below the age of 35," said Akhauri Sinha, COO of content and production for BBC Worldwide in India. "To meet the demand for programs targeted at this growing population, many of our clients have come to us requesting for more localized youth-oriented productions. We are very excited to be collaborating with MTV India for the first time on these two new programs. Both BBC Worldwide and MTV share the same ethos in producing great programs—to continually innovate to present viewers with exciting new concepts and formats."

BBC Worldwide India's other productions include Yeh Hai Ashiqui for Bindass, Ek Boond Ishq for Life OK and the local version of Dancing with the Stars, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, for Colors.
