Arson Attack at Japanese Animation Studio

According to local news reports, 33 people have died following a suspected arson attack on Japan’s Kyoto Animation.

The alleged arsonist is said to be in police custody. The studio, founded in 1981, has produced a range of anime series and movies, including Tsurune, Free!-Dive to the Future-, Liz and the Blue Bird, Violet Evergarden and Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid.

According to the company’s website, it has two studios in addition to its head office in Kyoto, plus a physical store, as well as an office in Tokyo.
