Rebecca Campbell has been named chairman of direct-to-consumer and international at The Walt Disney Company, succeeding longtime Disney executive Kevin Mayer.

The premiere of the filmed version of the original Broadway production of Hamilton has been fast-tracked to debut on Disney+ around the world on July 3.

Revenues at The Walt Disney Company in Q1 2019 were up 36 percent as the conglomerate delivered gains across all of its segments, including direct-to-consumer, with Disney+ ending 2019 with 26.5 million paid subs.

Chris Loveall, former VP of international programming for AMC Networks, is joining Disney+ in the role of VP of content for international.

Disney+ says it recorded more than 10 million sign-ups on its first day of being available in the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands.

Disney+ officially launched in the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands today, delivering some 500 films and 7,500 episodes of TV series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and more.
