Sony Pictures Posts Q1 Gains

Revenues at Sony Pictures rose by 6 percent to $1.7 billion in Q1, with the film and television division of the Japanese conglomerate delivering a profit of $3.7 million.

The segment was boosted by higher theatrical revenues, with releases such as Men in Black: International and Spider-Man: Far from Home, as well as higher television licensing revenues for catalog titles.

Overall revenues at Sony were down slightly, to $17.5 billion, with net income falling by 33 percent to $1.4 billion.
