AMC Networks Unveils Series, Premiere Dates & More

AMC Networks has revealed details for a raft of new and returning titles at its Television Critics’ Association (TCA) press tour, which includes highlights such as a third installment of The Terror on AMC and a Braxton Family Values follow-up reality series on WE tv.

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire is set to return for its second season on May 12 on AMC and AMC+. David Costabile (Breaking Bad, Billions, Suits) will join as a guest star.

Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, starring Alexandria Daddario, has also begun production on an eight-episode second season in New Orleans. Additionally, the network is actively developing a potential third series in the franchise, written and executive produced by Oscar-nominated John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side).

“The beloved world created by Anne Rice continues to be a vast and exciting source of story and character for us to explore, develop and bring to life on screen,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks. “We look forward to sharing second seasons of both Interview and Mayfair, two visually stunning productions that feature exciting new elements from Rice’s novels, with an audience and fan base that have embraced these series and unforgettable characters from the beginning. Beyond the existing shows, we’re actively developing a potential third series in this expanding franchise, with the incomparable John Lee Hancock crafting a story based on Rice’s captivating Talamasca society.”

AMC Networks has also greenlit the third installment of its horror anthology series The Terror. The new season, called The Terror: Devil in Silver, will premiere on AMC and AMC+ with six episodes in 2025.

The Terror anthology series has already delivered to fans two unforgettable seasons of storytelling that blend real-world events and characters with a terrifying and mysterious supernatural element,” McDermott said. “The Devil in Silver offers a perfect opportunity for a new installment of this popular and critically acclaimed anthology. We are looking forward to once again working with Chris Cantwell, who we partnered with so successfully on Halt and Catch Fire, Victor LaValle, Karyn Kusama and this great producing team to share our version of Victor’s heralded and disturbing novel.”

Cantwell said, “This series is at once a grounded and real story of a man encountering those forgotten by the world and those he has neglected himself, all while arriving at a life-or-death crossroads where he must face the Devil without and within… and what does victory look like in a world of broken systems and preyed-upon people? What kind of hero is needed? I am thrilled to be returning to AMC and honored to be working with a writer like Victor. We are looking forward to scaring the living daylights out of all of you very soon.”

Devil in Silver is a horror story based on all I’ve seen and also a love letter to the resilience of the human spirit,” added LaValle. “I feel so lucky that Christopher Cantwell agreed to help me tell this story. His gifts for empathy, humor and tragedy have only enriched this tale of ours. Plus, when we get together, we come up with some pretty twisted thrills. AMC is the perfect home for our show, and they’ve been such enthusiastic partners in its development.”

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Victor LaValle and Christopher Cantwell on the mind-bending, heart-wrenching journey that is The Terror: Devil in Silver,” said Kusama. “They’ve created a tale that is both genuinely terrifying and satisfyingly emotional, anchored by unforgettable characters. It’s an honor to help bring this special story to life.”

AMC Networks’ WE tv is also prepping The Braxtons, following the success of Braxton Family Values.

Evelyn Braxton said, “Thank you all for sharing our lives. I hope that through each one of our experiences, you’ll grow with us, inspiring you in your endeavors and teaching you the importance of family, love and experiencing life. Remember, we’re not perfect, we’re only human. Look at God.”

“It is not overstating things to say this is one of the most significant developments in the history of WE tv and a moment the fans have been waiting for since the final episode of Braxton Family Values aired on December 17, 2020,” said Brett Dismuke, head of content for WE tv and ALLBLK. “The Braxtons are one of the founding families of reality television, and WE tv viewers were along for the ride through every moment of their original pioneering series, which spanned 148 unforgettable episodes. We are thrilled to welcome them back and once again be able to share these dynamic relationships and all the highs, lows, triumphs, setbacks and drama that fall in between.”

ALLBLK has greenlit Deb’s House, in which Deb Antney searches for the hottest female MC.

“I envisioned a competition show that deviates from the norm—one centered around personal growth and self-competition,” said Antney. “Collaborating with [co-creator and co-EP] Rasheed to bring this vision to life has been an incredible journey. Witnessing the music industry veer away from artist development toward a focus on superficiality and explicit content prompted my desire to return to the core values of true lyricism and mentorship. The search for the next female rap sensation in Deb’s House is my way of reigniting that passion. The selection of our show as ALLBLK’s first commissioned competition reality series is truly thrilling. My sincere appreciation goes to my AMC Networks family, particularly Brett Dismuke, for their steadfast belief in this transformative project.”

“Deb Antney is no stranger to the AMC Networks family, appearing on popular WE tv series Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta, Waka & Tammy and executive producing the upcoming scripted series Bev Is Boss,” Dismuke added. “Ms. Deb is a pioneer and influential voice across the music industry who has discovered, established and guided the careers of some of hip-hop’s most prolific and successful artists. We cannot wait for our ALLBLK audience to join the search and ultimately see who Ms. Deb crowns as the next iconic female MC.”

The network is also premiering the brand-new Supa Girlz on March 7, while season two of My Mane Problem is coming April 25. Kold x Windy, Makeup x Breakup and Wicked City have also been renewed.

“These series have all been strong performers on ALLBLK in terms of viewership and acquisition and have all generated incredibly positive responses from our subscribers,” Dismuke said. “They also demonstrate ALLBLK’s commitment to creating compelling content from Black creators and storytellers. Makeup x Breakup, My Mane Problem, Kold x Windy and Wicked City are a great reflection of the diversity of programming that makes ALLBLK such a dynamic streaming destination, and these shows underscore our commitment to programming excellence and giving viewers what they want. 2024 will be a great year on ALLBLK, driven in large part by these popular returning titles.”

WE tv and ALLBLK also have Mama June, with a new season slated for February 9. Bold & Bougie has its series premiere on February 15, while The Barnes Bunch has its own on April 11. Love During Lockup returns for another season on April 19.

Acorn TV has commissioned the gritty new detective series Ellis. The drama will follow DCI Ellis, a tenacious cop who is parachuted into failing investigations.

Clarke, and we are excited to work with both Channel 5 and Company Pictures again.”

On the new commission for Channel 5, Sebastian Cardwell, deputy chief content officer at Paramount UK, commented, “Ellis is a brilliant addition to our scripted slate, and we are thrilled to be working with the teams at Acorn TV and Company Pictures on this gripping new series. I can’t wait to see the incredible Sharon D. Clarke bring DCI Ellis to life.”

“Company Pictures are proud and delighted to be creating a new detective series for Channel 5 and Acorn with funding from Northern Ireland Screen, in association with All3Media International,” said Michele Buck, CEO of Company Pictures, an All3Media company. “Sharon D. Clarke is the perfect DCI Ellis, who will bring her inimitable talents to this inventive and powerful new female-led detective series.”

David Swetman, senior VP of content and commercial strategy at All3Media International, added, “We’re delighted to be distributing this new crime series from Company Pictures. Following the investigations of the enigmatic DCI Ellis will be a delight for audiences around the world.”
