WWE Strikes Snapchat Partnership

STAMFORD: WWE and Snapchat have entered into a partnership that kicks off tomorrow at WrestleMania.

Snapchat will cover WrestleMania, which takes place this Sunday, April 3, via a Live Story. WrestleMania will also air live around the world on WWE Network at 7 p.m.

Fans will have the opportunity to contribute video and photo Snaps to one collective WrestleMania Live Story. The Snaps submitted from WrestleMania will be curated and packaged by Snapchat into a video that is available globally to Snapchat’s more than 100 million daily users.

Additional WWE events will be covered via Snapchat Live Stories through the multiyear pact.

“We are thrilled to partner with Snapchat and provide our fans with a new way to experience WrestleMania,” said Jayar Donlan, WWE’s senior VP of digital and social content. “The Snapchat Live Story allows WWE fans to share their stories from our annual pop culture extravaganza and dive into the live action of WrestleMania in more ways, and from more perspectives, than ever before.”

“By partnering with WWE for our coverage of WrestleMania and future events, we are able to bring Snapchatters and WWE fans new and old even closer to the action and behind-the-scenes of some of the biggest events in sports and entertainment,” said Ben Schwerin, the director of partnerships at Snapchat.

Separately, WWE announced a new docuseries, Holy Foley, coming to the WWE Network. Produced by Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate, the 10×30-minute family reality series is slated to premiere in August. It takes a behind-the-scenes look into the life of WWE Hall of Famer, husband and father Mick Foley and his relationship with his daughter Noelle.

“I am excited to give fans a behind-the-scenes look into the Foley family life,” said Foley. “Holy Foley will be filled with surprises, lots of drama and moments that will make you laugh out loud.”

“It’s an honor to be working with WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, and I’m very happy to be collaborating with WWE on this series,” said executive producer Dave Caplan.

“As a leader in supplying premium content to digital platforms, we are very pleased to once again partner with WWE and bring this fun family series to WWE Network,” said Jennifer O’Connell, the executive VP of alternative programming at Lionsgate Television.  “Holy Foley is an exciting way to give the WWE Universe a unique behind-the-scenes look into the Foley family.”
