TV5MONDE Cinema On Demand Launches on Verizon Fios

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK: French-language entertainment channel TV5MONDE USA has inked a carriage deal with Verizon Fios for its VOD service, expanding its reach into 13 new markets.

TV5MONDE Cinema On Demand is now available to Verizon Fios customers who subscribe to TV5MONDE USA’s linear channel. Each month, TV5MONDE Cinema On Demand will feature a selection of movies centered on a special theme. The movies will air in French, with many offering English subtitles.

For the month of August, subscribers will have access to films such as Libre Et Assoupi, Je Fais Le Mort, La Cage Dorée, Gardiens De L’Ordre and 600 Kilos D’Or Pur. In September, the films will celebrate actress Sophie Marceau, while in October, TV5MONDE Cinema On Demand will air movies from Seattle International Film Festival’s French Cinema Now. An average of 15 movies are offered each month.

Yves Bigot, the general manager of TV5MONDE, said, “We are thrilled to be entering into this partnership and [to be] working together with Verizon Fios to bring the best in French-language cinema to new audiences in the markets the company serves. Every month Verizon Fios subscribers will be treated to a lineup of current feature films—many of which will be making their [U.S.] premieres—along with a treasure trove of classic movies.”

The monthly package fee for subscribers starts at $11.99 and includes both the TV5MONDE USA channel and unlimited film viewing on TV5MONDE Cinema On Demand. The service is available to Verizon Fios customers in the Albany-Schenectady-Troy region of New York state, Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, the Harrisburg-York-Lancaster-Leba region of Pennsylvania, New York City, the Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News region of Virginia, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the Providence-New Bedford region of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, Richmond, Syracuse and Washington, D.C.
